After winning this on Ebay yesterday!
Yes, yes, yes. I know I live in Florida. But I’ve been lusting for a mink coat ever since when we went skiing in salt Lake City in February.
Dr. B just looked at me and said, “I hope you like it.” LOL!
Salt Lake City has a reputation as being a strict no-frills city due to it’s Mormon roots. Much to my delight SLC was filled with friendly people who are very proud of their city and it’s “unique” history. But, they are also very funny and can see the humor in their history and they aren’t afraid to say so. Just check out these cute t-shirts I spotted during our trip!
Have you spotted a crazy tourist t-shirt?

This was my first time tubing, and it was more fun than I expected. Have you ever been tubing, did you like it?
- Day Three in SLC (natashawilliams.wordpress.com)
Today is our third day I’m Salt Lake City, Utah. Thus far, It’s been a very memorable trip :-). Friday evening we went to a burlesque show. Yep! It was old-fashion burlesque, Utah style ! The show was put on by The Candy Cabinet Cabaret, and held in a live entertainment venue called the Woodshed(need I say more). My favorite performance was the 60-ish woman performing a burlesque belly dance – she had 3 stomachs, but she had a lot of rhythm, and some great moves.
Saturday we headed up to Brighton Ski Resort for ski lessons. The weather was beautiful. It was 40 degrees, and sunny on the mountain, which made for perfect skiing weather. My biggest fear was that I would be soo cold and miserable that I would hate skiing. But, I had on several layers underneath my ski clothes and the sun was shining bright – so I was able to enjoy the lessons without being cold. OMG, the lessons were soo much fun. I really enjoyed learning how to ski. It’s a lot of hard work, I didn’t realize the ski boot wear a ton. By the end of the lesson, I was able to take the ski lift up to the beginners slope, and go down the hill while completing a few turns on the way down! After our lesson, Dr. B and I stayed a Brighton for a few more hours and continued to practice what we learned.
Today were going up to Park City, Utah which is where the Sundance Film Festival is held, and where the 2002 Winter Olympics took place. Were going to find a nice restaurant for breakfast, tour the city, and then go tubing at Gorgoza Park with a few friends. I’ve heard soo much about Park City’s restaurants, shops, and cultural centers, so I’m really looking forward to today’s excursion.
Whenever Dr.B and I fly, he likes to sit in the aisle seats which leaves me in the middle seat :-( I usually depart the flight with a stiff neck and a headache, after trying to sleep sitting up while sandwiched between two people. On previous flights I tried to roll my pashama into a pillow, but that didn’t help. Some I scoured the luggage store until I found this
(sorry the pic us upside down, I’m blogging from the WordPress iPhone app)
The first leg of our trip to Salt Lake City is three hours long, so I knew I would need something to keep me out of the chiropractor’s office next week :-) Hopefully it will help. I’ll keep you posted.
What are your goto travel essentials? Any tips for making it through long flights?
This week started out busy, busy, busy! But, I wanted to say hi and let you know I’m still alive and kicking :-)
I’m in the 10th week of my course, which is when we start solidifying our dissertation topics in preparation for submitting the dissertation prospectus for review. Needless to say I haven’t solidified a topic yet :-( I know that it will include some aspect of social media, I’m just not sure what. I’m so ready for this class to be over. I have three more and counting!!!!
In addition to my course work, I am preparing for our trip to Salt Lake City. I’m woefully unprepared for the weather out there, as it has been in the high 60’s and 70’s here in Orlando. I have all of my ski wear: Coat, pants, hat, gloves, goggles, thermals, but I am in need of more cold weather outerwear. The bad part is I don’t want to invest too much into clothing that I sure to not get much wear out of them. What’s a girl to do?
I wish we could have flown up there a few weeks earlier, then we cold have hobnobbed with the actors and actresses in town for the Sundance Film Festival. But this is my birthday trip, so were going this week. I’m hoping I don’t break anything trying to ski. I’m sure Dr. B will take plenty of photos and videos or me falling, I’ll pt the least embarrassing ones :-)
Speaking of birthdays, my 37th is fast approaching (Friday the 11th) :-( I would be depresses, except that I still get carded when I buy alcohol! That’s definitely makes a difference when you head into your late 30’s.
Last but not least, check out Dr. B’s newest blog post, Loyalty Versus Reality: Knowing When to Quit Your Job.
